Adornments Of Ceylon - Vintage 14K Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Earrings. These impressive earrings are crafted from 14K white gold, hallmarked 14K on the reverse of the earrings. Featuring 2 natural round cut Ceylon sapphires, 34 natural round brilliant cut diamonds, Art Deco Styling, and quality gold-work. These earrings are articulated beautifully, there is a simple plain and polished lever back surmount for pierced ears. Featuring a delicate milgrain double framed drop adorned by a sparkling diamonds. The next segment is a delicate white gold milgrain triangular and round frame, which is enhanced by even more a dazzling diamonds. The bottom of the segment boasts a beautiful expertly claw-set vibrant Ceylon blue sapphire, which adds contrasting colour and beauty to the earrings . History: Sri Lanka know as Ceylon prior to 1972, is the origin of the oldest sapphire mines inn the world. According to historical accounts, Ceylon was already known for sapphires by the 2nd century A.D. and there was an active international trade in Ceylon gems by the 4th and 5th century. Ceylon sapphires are considered to be some of the finest sapphires in the world.
