Changes - Estate Sterling Silver Lab created Colour Change Alexandrite Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling.  Featuring an emerald cut faceted lab created alexandrite, Art Deco styling, and quality craftsmanship.  The lovely ring boasts a beautiful purple alexandrite, displaying reddish pink hues. The expertly double-claw set stone has a gentle colour change in natural light, which brings out purplish/blue hues. The gallery showcases exquisite filigree work, leading down to engraved floral shoulders. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. The wonderful Estate ring looks stunning when worn...so beautiful!

The controversial history of alexandrite dates back to Imperial Russia, where it was first discovered in emerald mines near the Tokovaya River in the Ural Mountains. Its Finnish discoverer initially mistook it for emerald before realizing it changed colors under different light sources.

Alexandrite is an expensive gemstone because it so rare and production has always been limited. For years, the only source for alexandrite was Russia.

Silver's history is long. The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.
