Charming Georgian Beaded Pinchbeck Bracelet.  This bracelet is stunning. It is a beautiful example of Georgian beaded jewellery.  The bracelet is handmade with glass beads. The design is floral , the flowers surround the bracelet.   The beads chosen remind me of jewels. The background of the design and the beads chosen were a beautiful pearl white. The flower colours are garnet red, emerald green, peridot green, pink topaz pink, sapphire blue , topaz yellow and beautiful purple amethyst colour beads. The edge of the bracelet is done in carnelian coloured beads.  Then to finish the bracelet off there is the most beautiful pinchbeck clasp , which is in working order and secure. This bracelet has had some restoration which makes the bracelet wearable.  This would make a perfect unique gift or a wonderful addition to any jewel collection.

Note: Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, mixed in proportions so that it closely resembles gold in appearance.  It was invented by Christopher Pinchbeck (1670-1732), a London clockmaker. Since gold was only sold in 18 carat (18k)  quality at that time, the development of pinchbeck allowed ordinary people to buy gold"effect" jewellery.  The inventor allegedly made pinchbeck jewellery clearly labelled as such. Pinchbeck jewellery was used in places like stagecoaches where there was no risk of theft. Later dishonest people people passed pinchbeck off as gold. The most beautiful pinchbeck are the earlier pieces. This clasp is a fine example of that time.
