Lace - Georgian 18th Century 18K Gold & Sterling Silver Rose Cut Diamond Earrings. These exquisite earrings are hand - crafted from 18K Gold and sterling silver , tested.  Featuring 16 natural rose cut diamonds, Georgian styling and quality workmanship.  These earrings are completely handmade and are articulated beautifully. The earrings simulate a floral motif, with lovely filigree work , which looks like lace. The surmounts are delicate flower buds, whilst the dangle is an open bloom. The entire earrings are adorned with glowing rose cut diamonds.  The ear wires are crafted in karat gold, as are the back of the earrings.  These Georgian era beauties can be worn day or night, such versatile earrings indeed,  for that special someone or your own personal fine jewelry collection.

History: he Georgian era is a period in British history from 1714 to c. 1830–37, named after the Hanoverian kings George I, George II, George III and George IV. The sub-period that is the Regency era is defined by the regency of George IV as Prince of Wales during the illness of his father George III.

 Diamond History The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

 The rose cut originated in the 1500's and was commonly used through the Georgian and Victorian eras. Like other antique diamond cuts, they were cut by hand and meant to dazzle under candlelight. Their large, wide facets performed exquisitely in low light conditions.

Jewelry made before 1850 (The Industrial Revolution) was completely hand-made, using only tools and no machinery. These jewels are a wonderful example of completely hand-made jewelry.
