Gatsby's Jewel - Art Deco Brass & Crystal Drop Necklace. This lovely necklace is crafted from brass. Featuring crystal, Art Deco styling, and quality craftsmanship. The beautiful necklace is comprised of square, and round crystals in a partial riviere. There is a beautiful crystal drop, which dangles perfectly from the necklace. The chain portion of the necklace are comprised of dainty little balls, and a spring ring clasp, in perfect working order. The gorgeous Art Deco era necklace looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect piece for a wedding or any special occasion.
Rhinestones which are also known as diamantes or paste date back as far as the thirteenth century where they were first made from Czechoslovakian or Bohemian hand blown glass. The term rhinestone came along later, when rock crystals were discovered in and around the shores of the river Rhine in Austria.
Brass was introduced around 500 BC. Brass is made from an alloy of Copper and Zinc. Since Zinc is rarely if ever found in its natural state, early on people discovered melting copper and calamine (a zinc ore) yielded a golden coloured tarnish resistant metal.
