Ancient Roman Revival - Vintage 22K Gold Ruby Eros Dangle Earrings. These unique earrings are crafted from 22K solid gold, tested and confirmed.  Featuring 4 glass cabochon rubies (a characteristic found in ancient jewelry), Roman Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. These unique earrings are made in the form of Eros. The surmount is beautifully detailed and adorned with a red ruby gemstone. Dangling from the surmount is a disc, in the form of a floral motif, and set with a ruby.  The focal point of these earrings are the wonderful eros figures, which are flanked by chains tassels. The colour of the gold is rich, bright and buttery, which you would expect from a high carat gold.  They have thicker wires for pierced ears (a characteristic seen in  ancient earrings) and a loop closure for additional security. The ear wires can be altered easily by a goldsmith if you find them too thick for your piercings. These Vintage earrings are breathtaking and so unique. Bring out your inner goddess with these magnificent earrings. Truly amazing!

Note: Appraisal included with the earrings.

History:  The Romanesque Revival style was introduced in the 19th century, as architectural ideas from Europe, based on the buildings of ancient Rome, were imported here.

700 bce), Eros was a primeval god, son of Chaos, the original primeval emptiness of the universe, but later tradition made him the son of Aphrodite, goddess of sexual love and beauty, by either Zeus (the king of the gods), Ares (god of war and of battle), or Hermes (divine messenger of the gods).

In ancient Greek mythology, Eros was the god of love. He had the ability to shoot his magical bow and arrow and make people fall in love with each other. What a super power! Eros was the son of Aphrodite, the famous goddess of love.

Ruby has been called the most precious of the 12 stones created by God. Ruby retained its importance with the birth of the western world and became one of the most sought-after gems of European royalty and the upper classes. Many medieval Europeans wore rubies to guarantee health, wealth, wisdom, and success in love.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
