Bohemian Rhapsody - Victorian 14K Rolled Gold Garnet Pendant. This elegant pendant is crafted from 14K rolled gold (a technique which is also known as gold fill. Meaning that it has 1/20th of pure 14K content by weight. While the term gold fill is used the actual pure gold layer all sits on the outside of the brass core). The chain is 14K gold plate, hallmarked. Featuring one genuine fancy cut elongated pear shaped garnet, 11 genuine rose cut garnets, Victorian styling and quality workmanship. This wonderful jewel is an elegant drop, adorned by deep red wine coloured garnets. The rolled gold is bright and in wonderful condition. The beautiful pendant has been matched up to a linked chain with a spring ring clasp in perfect working order. This glorious Victorian era pendant would make a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.
Note: The word “Bohemian” derives from the region of Bohemia, a kingdom which later became Czechoslovakia. Among other flourishing trades, this region produced gorgeous, deep red garnet gemstones and a style of jewelry that quickly became popular in the late Victorian Era and through the turn of the century.
In History of the United Kingdom, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign, from the 20th of June 1837 until her death on the 22nd of January 1901.
