Heart Of Sentiment - Victorian 9K Gold Natural Pearl & Ruby Paste Heart Locket Pendant. This lovely locket is crafted from 9K yellow gold, tested. The chain is 14K Gold filled, hallmarked 1/20 14K. Featuring 9 natural seed pearls, two round cut ruby paste gemstones, Victorian styling, and quality craftsmanship. This lovely locket is a 9K gold front to back locket, meaning that the locket has a 9k gold front and back, and metal parts such as the heart frame inserts and hinges (a characteristic of Victorian and Edwardian lockets) which gives the locket strength and durability. The front of the locket showcases a floral design, which is adorned with silvery grey lustrous pearls, and vibrant red ruby paste gemstones. The engravings are delicate and detailed, whilst the back of the locket is plain and polished. The locket still has its original frame inserts and a photo of a Victorian/Edwardian lady, and plastic covers. The pendant has been matched to a 14K gold filled chain, with a spring ring clasp in perfect working order. Paste jewellery is a special type of flint glass that emulates a number of gemstones. The origins of Paste jewellery date back to the mid-18^thcentury, to a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras, who worked as a jeweller to the king when he moved from Strasbourg to Paris in 1724.
