High Tea - Edwardian 9K Rose Gold Amethyst & Natural Pearl Lavalier Pendant. This exquisite pendant is crafted  from 9K rose gold, hallmarked 9ct (British hallmark for 9K). Featuring one genuine round cut faceted amethyst, 6 natural seed pearls, Edwardian Art Nouveau styling, and quality craftsmanship. This decorative Art Nouveau open-work pendant showcases a beautiful foliate design, which is adorned by a central collet-set purple amethyst, displaying purplish/reddish hues. This is flanked by lustrous silvery grey seed pearls, claw-set into attractive wing like structures. Also  flanking are ornate bobbles, twist wire work, scroll work and open-work. A loop is present to the pendants apex, through which a necklace can pass, to be worn around the neck. To its base, is a pretty 'ball dropper'. The pendant has been matched up to a 14K gold filled rose gold chain, featuring a spring ring clasp in perfect working order. History: Amethyst jewelry has been found and dated as early as 2000 BC. Some historical accounts say that Saint Valentine had an amethyst ring carved with an image of Cupid. For those familiar with Old Testament history, amethyst was one of the twelve gemstones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel.

Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.

The Edwardian era corresponds to the reign of King Edward VII in Great Britain, whose short-lived governance (1901-1910) followed Victoria's long reign and preceded the modern House of Windsor in England. The "Edwardian" style broadly encompasses the years of 1901 through to 1919.

Art Nouveau, ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. Art Nouveau is characterized by its use of a long, sinuous, organic line and was employed most often in architecture, interior design, jewelry and glass design, posters, and illustration.
