Ancient Sensuality - Victorian Etruscan Revival 10K Rose Gold Garnet Snake Bracelets.  These bracelets are superb. I see these from time to time sold singly, however I was lucky enough to find a pair. Over the years these type of bracelets are split up and given to children or grandchildren.  These beautiful bracelets are made of 10K solid rose gold, (tested) and gold fill. The rigid bangle part is made of gold fill and flexible. Gold fill was often used in Victorian jewellery , the gold is very thick not like modern day gold plate. The gold fill of the Victorian era was made to last.  As you can see on this bracelet, the gold fill is still very bright and shiny. The ends of this bracelet have been tested 10k solid rose gold, and 10K yellow gold detail, the beautiful foil backed garnets are genuine. The garnets have a gorgeous deep red wine colour and full of sparkle when the light reflects off of them.  The beautiful rose gold is formed in a design of snakes, however these snakes are somewhat abstract and very elegant with the jewelled garnets. These stunning bracelets are adjustable in size , however fits a wrist no larger than 6 1/2 inches the best.  To own a pair of beautiful bracelets such as these would make a wonderful addition to your jewellery collection.

History: The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. Its name, which has been used since these ancient times, was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate (because the small, red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds).

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

Rose gold was first used in early 19th century Russia by the famed jeweler Carl Faberge in his famous Faberge Eggs, as was known as Russian Gold. Rose gold later gained popularity in the United States during the lavish and feminine 1920's, and was worn in engagement rings and fine jewelry.

Note: In History of the United Kingdom, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign, from the 20th of June 1837 until her death on the 22nd of January 1901.
