Glitter & Color - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Ruby & Diamond Ring. This exquisite ring is crafted from 14K yellow and white gold, hallmarked 585 (European hallmark for 14K gold).  The ring features 4 natural emerald cut faceted rubies, 6 natural single cut diamonds, classic vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring showcases vibrant beautiful red rubies, displaying a reddish/pinkish hue, which are interspaced by sparkling clear diamonds. The side profile of the gallery exhibits a very pretty scroll-type filigree detail, which adds character and beauty to the piece. The shoulders have a tapered split design, which leads down to a polished and smooth shank, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. History : The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road. 

Rubies have been particularly prized in Asian countries. Records suggest that rubies were traded along China's North Silk Road as early as 200 BC. Chinese noblemen adorned their armor with rubies because they believed the gem would grant protection. Burma has been a significant ruby source since at least 600 AD.
