Angel - Edwardian 15K Gold Natural Angel Skin Coral Ring.  This exquisite ring is crafted from 15K yellow gold, hallmarked 15ct (British hallmark for 15K).  Featuring a natural oval cabochon Angel Skin Coral gemstone, Edwardian styling, and quality gold-work. The focus of this antique ring is a beautiful natal coral gem, which exhibits a gentle blush pink / peach colour ( known as angel skin coral).  The rare gem sits in a stunning open - worked scalloped gallery, whilst the band features slightly tapered plain polished shoulders. The entire shank is simple and smooth, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This Edwardian era ring is a rare piece to be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come. 

Comments: Angel Skin Coral is no longer being harvested, which make the precious gem very rare. This ring is a very fine example. 

History: Prized for centuries for its natural beauty, Angel Skin Coral belongs in a rarefied circle of extraordinary gems. This precious coral is beyond rare, hailing from the seas around Japan, Taiwan and Hawaii.

A pretty pink colored coral is referred to as Angel Skin, and it is also very valuable, almost as prized as the oxblood. Coral comes in every color of pink, from very pale that is almost white to a dark salmon color. In most case as the pink color gets darker and more even the price goes up.

Angel Skin Coral is of Japanese Origin. Assael Coral was harvested before the 1960's and is approved for importation from CITES.  Assael Coral's size, round shape, and length are very rare.

Because coral is very soft, it has to be treated with great care. It should be cleaned with a soft, clean cloth, and then rinsed in warm, soapy water. It should never be soaked, nor put in an ultrasonic cleaner, nor subjected to a jewelry dip.
