Deep Sky - Estate Sterling Silver Blue & White Crystal French Lever Back Earrings. These earrings are crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling silver. Theses earrings feature two round cut blue crystals, eight round cut crystal gems, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship. The galleries on these earrings showcase beautiful deep blue crystals, which are enhanced by a sparkling clear crystal surmount. The earrings are for pierced ears, and feature secure French lever backs. These estate earrings are elegant and sophisticated, with an Edwardian feel. Just lovely!

History:Joseph Strasser could be credited with the precursor to our present-day Rhinestone, but it was really when Georg Freidrich Strass in 1760 invented the first ever rhinestone (artificial gemstone) from a special type of crystal found in the Rhine River that the stones we know today were born.

Silver was discovered after gold and copper about 4000 bce, when it was used in jewelry and as a medium of exchange. The earliest known workings of significant size were those of the pre-Hittites of Cappadocia in eastern Anatolia.

The term "sterling silver" probably originated in eastern Germany when five towns formed the Hanseatic League in the 1100s. These town minted their own coins of 92.5 percent silver. When Britain sold cattle and grain to the League, they were paid in "Easterling coins".
