Fauxfabulous - Art Deco Rhodium Plate Faux Pearl Triple Strand Necklace. This wonderful pearl necklace is crafted from rhodium plate over a silver metal. Featuring Art Deco styling, faux round pearls, and pierce work. The pearls on this necklace are expertly hand-strung onto silk thread. The pearls have 3 strands of graduated pearls, which display a beautiful lustre and a silvery champagne colour. The pearls have some weight to them (a characteristic of antique and vintage pearls), allowing them to hang well. This pearl necklace is high quality and most likely adorned a young brides neck in the 1920/30s. The clasp is a silver metal, and showcases lovely pierce work and detail. It is a slide and hook design, which is secure and in perfect working order. The condition of the Art Deco era necklace is pristine for its age, and would make a very special addition to any jewelry collection.
History: The first modern method of making imitation pearls was patented by Jacquin of France in 1686, according to Marie-Jose and Howard Opper writing in BEADS: Journal of the Society of Bead Researchers.
