Ghianda - Ancient Roman Circa 250 - 350 AD Silver Acorn Pendant. This lovely artifact is crafted from silver, tested and confirmed. Chain is hallmarked 925 and Italy. This wonderful museum quality amulet is shaped as an acorn, it has a beautiful aged soft patina and charming design. There is a contemporary addition of a ring, which protects the precious original bale. The chain is a hand finished fancy linked necklace made in Italy. This amazing piece of history has survived all these years in mint condition, truly a piece to be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come.

Note: Ghianda means acorn in Italian. In ancient Rome, every oak was considered sacred to Jupiter, the Italian counterpart to Zeus. Not only was Jupiter worshipped as the deity of the oak, but Roman commanders who were victorious in battle were presented with crowns of oak leaves. Both Romans and Greeks associated the oak tree with their highest gods.
