Sparkling Flower - Estate Silver Plated Cubic Zirconia Cluster Ring. This ring is crafted from silver plate over metal. The ring features round cut cubic zirconia gemstones, and Edwardian Revival styling. The gallery on this ring is designed in the form of a flower, and is expertly claw-set with bright and sparkling cubic zirconia gemstones. The band has a slight taper, leading up to the shoulders of the ring. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit. This pretty estate ring is well made, and truly looks like a high end piece.
History: Although cubic zirconia was discovered as a natural mineral in 1937, crystals usable for faceting were first produced in 1969 and it was not until a practical skull-melting technique was developed in the USSR in 1972 that commercial production became feasible.
Sheffield Plate — produced in Sheffield between 1760-1840 — was the earliest form of silver plating. The plating method involves thin sheets of silver being fused (using heat) to a base metal, which, for Sheffield Plate, was copper.
