Wedding Belle - Vintage Signed 'Charm' 14K & 18K Natural Diamond Engagement Ring. This exquisite ring is crafted from 14K and 18K, hallmarked 14-18K, and a makers mark CHARM.  The ring features one natural round brilliant diamond, 6 natural single cut diamonds, classic vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship.  The gallery on this ring showcases an expertly claw-set sparkling diamond, adorned by glittering side diamonds. The diamonds are set in white gold, which set off the diamonds beautifully. Whilst the band is crafted in yellow gold. This white and yellow gold makes for a wonderful combination, because it makes the combination easy to wear with yellow gold, white gold, platinum or silver jewelry. The shank has a slight taper, and is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This vintage engagement ring is dainty, yet substantial enough for daily wear. Truly a wonderful classic vintage ring to be cherished for many years  to come.

Note: Appraisal included with the Ring.

History: The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The first patent on white gold in Europe was granted in 1912 to the German chemist Carl Louis Ullman. In his patent, Ullman describes how to obtain white gold with a mixture of pure gold, platinum and palladium. But it is assumed that the knowledge of German jewelers predated that first patent.
