Goldette - Vintage Gold Plated Jeweled Slide Bracelet. This gorgeous bracelet is crafted from gold plate over metal, signed Goldette, NY. The bracelet features a variety of faux pearls, and gemstones, vintage Victorian revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. This lovely bracelet is comprised of a double chain design, and 14 slides, which are enhanced by expertly set faux gemstones. The bracelet has a hinge-type double moon clasp, which is in perfect working order. There is also a safety chain for additional security. This vintage Victorian revival is highly collectible and looks stunning when worn.
History: Ben Gartner was the founder of The Circle Jewelry Company of New York. The company produced good quality costume jewelry and began marketing it under the Goldette name in 1958. Some early pieces may be marked Goldette NY. The jewelry was popular through the 1960's and 1970's until Goldette production ended around 1977.
Luigi Brunatelli, an Italian chemist, is most widely credited for inventing electroplating. Brugnatelli published his findings on the use of Volta piles to deposit a layer of gold onto a metallic surface in 1805.
