Taxco Treasure - Vintage Sterling Silver & Gold Aztec Panel Bracelet. This extraordinary Taxco sterling and gold-washed sterling bracelet features six panels of different Aztec images. From left to right: warrior face with feathered headdress, Aztec sun calendar, warrior face in headdress, eagle, human sacrifice, and same warrior as first panel with opposite profile. The raised images have an intricate gold-washed border and background. The gold background has intricate silver borders. The panels have hammered edges and are hinged together. There is a tongue and groove spring clasp. The back of the tongue is stamped STERLING 925 TAXCO.  Truly a wonderful unique vintage bracelet for any collection.

History: The people who lived in the area now known as Taxco were using silver long before the Spanish arrived in the Americas. They mined silver and used it to make gifts for Aztec gods and for other ceremonial purposes. The Aztecs used silver for jewelry too, and Aztec jewelers were incredible craftsmen.
