Delightful - Vintage Brass Crystal Rhinestone Filigree Clip-On Earrings. These gorgeous earrings are crafted from brass, and marked W. GERMANY. Featuring marquise and round cut crystal rhinestones, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on these earrings are claw-set with beautiful sparkling crystal rhinestones, which adorn the exquisite filigree work. The earrings feature secure clip-on backings, which are for pierced and non pierced ears. The vintage earrings are in the Victorian revival style, and look stunning when worn.

History: Around 500 BC when brass was discovered it was called “mountain copper”, which was composed of naturally occurring copper and zinc mixtures that were melted down to form a golden metal. The ancient Romans used brass primarily for decorative purposes.

Centuries ago, quartz pebbles with a high lead content were found sparkling on the banks of Europe's Rhine River. These beautiful, natural stones were highly coveted and were eventually depleted, inspiring jewelers to create an imitation, aptly named the "rhinestone."
