Indigo Adornment - Estate Sterling Silver Sapphire & Diamond Tennis Bracelet. This pretty bracelet is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling. The bracelet features 12 natural oval cut faceted sapphires, 24 natural round cut diamonds, Art Deco Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. The links on this bracelet are set with indigo blue sapphires, and interspaced with sparkling diamonds.  The bracelet has precious gemstones around the entire piece, which is known as a tennis bracelet. The links have movement, which allows for flexibility and a comfortable fit. There is a slide type clasp, which locks into place, and a hook-type latch for additional security. This Estate bracelet would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

History: The celestial blue color of this gemstone symbolized heaven and attracted divine favor and wise judgment. Greeks wore sapphire for guidance when seeking answers from the oracle. Buddhists believed that it brought spiritual enlightenment, and Hindus used it during worship.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Silver Mining in History. The story of silver mining began about 5,000 years ago. Silver was first mined around 3,000 BCE in Anatolia, now located in modern-day Turkey. The precious metal helped early civilizations in the Near East, Ancient Greece to flourish.

The term sterling silver denotes any silver alloy in which pure silver makes up at least 92.5 percent of the content. One theory is that the word sterling comes from the name Easterlings—coiners from east German states brought to England during the reign of Henry II (1154–89) to improve the quality of the coinage.

The style became popular in the Roaring 20s as women would regularly wear it paired with their fanciest dresses, for the most elaborate parties and occasions. However, the style was later rebranded as the tennis bracelet in 1978 when tennis pro Chris Evert chose to wear the diamond accessory during her matches.
