Thoroughly Engaging - Estate 14K White Gold Moissanite & Diamond Engagement Ring. This custom made ring is crafted from 14K white gold, hallmarked 14K. The ring features one princess cut synthetic moissanite (laser inscribed, HP 877) gemstone, two cubic zirconia gemstones, 68 natural round brilliant cut diamonds, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is square shaped, and set with a sparkling moissanite. The centre gem has a sparkling diamond surround, which off-sets the moissanite perfectly. The shoulders are claw-set with a cubic zirconia on each side, and also adorned with sparkling diamonds on an open-work frame of white gold. The ring has a smooth and polished shank, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This estate ring would make a wonderful 'one of a kind' engagement ring for that special someone.

Note: Professional appraisal included with the ring. Appraised at $2500.00 (Tax Excluded)

History: The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

The mineral moissanite was discovered by Henri Moissan while examining rock samples from a meteor crater located in Canyon Diablo, Arizona, in 1893. At first, he mistakenly identified the crystals as diamonds, but in 1904 he identified the crystals as silicon carbide.

Cubic zirconia was first discovered by German mineralogists in 1937. The gemstone was dismissed for years until it was rediscovered by Soviet-era scientists. It was hoped that the stone could be used as a diamond-like, indestructible substance. There were also theories that it may be used in place of rubies in lasers.

Cubic zirconia was invented in Russia in the 1970s, as a diamond alternative for use in laser technology. Later, the jewelry industry starty using CZ because of its sparkle and brilliance that is similar to diamonds. Now, CZ is used in almost all kinds of jewelry – necklace, rings, engagement rings, earrings and more.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

White gold was invented in the 19th century by alloying gold with palladium. It became commercially available as of 1912 in Pforzheim, Germany and gained popularity in the mid-1920s as a low-cost substitute for platinum. It is an alloy of gold with copper, zinc, and nickel.
