Full Bloom - Vintage Signed 'Heidi Daus' Bronze Toned Metal Austrian Swarovski Crystal Rhinestone & Faux Turquoise Necklace & Earring Set. This gorgeous set is crafted from bronze toned metal, signed Heidi Daus. The set features a variation of cuts and colors of Swarovski crystal, numerous faux Turquoise beads, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this necklace is expertly set with beautiful sparkling crystal gemstones, which lead to a 3 strand turquoise necklace and a chain extender. The chain also has a turquoise dangle, which adds a wonderful finishing touch to the piece. The earrings match the necklace perfectly, and most likely were purchased as a set. They are for pierced ears, which feature posts and secure clip-on backs. This set looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect addition to a special occasion dress or gown.

The term Rhinestone was given to the little sparkles after the river Rhine, where quartz pebbles, rock crystals with a high lead content were originally found. Folk would collect them from the shores, jewellers cutting and moulding them into little imitation diamonds.

In 1883, Daniel formed a jewelry company and by 1886, they had over 70 employees, and supplied jewelry for Queen Victoria. In 1891, Daniel registered a patent for the crystal cutting machine that he created and in 1895, moved from Bohemia to Wattens, Austria to begin crystal production.

Typically fake turquoise is made out of a soft mineral called howlite, which is dyed to look just like turquoise. Other imitations include magnesite, plastic, epoxy, and resin that are all dyed to resemble the real deal.
