Cleopatra's Muse - Vintage Ancient Egyptian Revival 9K Gold Fringe Necklace.  This wonderful necklace is crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375(9K British Hallmark), and a makers mark MST. Featuring an ancient Egyptian revival design, vintage styling, and quality gold work.  The necklace is comprised of gold fancy links, which are smooth and polished. The front portion of the necklace features beautiful textured panels of gold, which dangle and lay on the neck perfectly. The back of the panels display a bright polish. These type of necklaces are made to wear short, so the panels lay flat. There is an additional 10K gold 1" extender added to the necklace so it can be adjusted depending on the size of your neck and what clothing you are wearing.  These type of necklaces were first designed in ancient times, and were brought back in fashion in the Georgian era during the neoclassical time period (1760 - 1830). This style also became fashionable in the late Victorian and Edwardian period, and throughout the 20th century. This particular example is made of 9K solid gold, and has the versatility to be worn with todays fashion.  Truly a perfect addition to any fine jewelry collection.  Just gorgeous!

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
