Colour Change Beauty - Vintage 10K Gold Marquise Alexandrite Solitaire Ring.  This gorgeous ring is crafted from 10K gold, hallmarked 10K, and a makers mark SIFFARI. Featuring one marquise cut synthetic alexandrite, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery in this ring showcases a beautiful elegant marquise cut alexandrite, which changes from a purplish/mauve colour to a purplish/bluish teal color in different light intensities. The ring is dainty, yet sturdy and substantial for daily wear. The shank is polished and smooth, which allows for a comfortable fit, and easy sizing. This vintage ring is in wonderful condition, and would make a great addition to any fine jewelry collection.

History: What Is Synthetic Alexandrite? Due to the gemstone's rarity, many types of imitations and synthetics have been on the market since the early 1900s. Faux alexandrite from the 1920s was made out of the mineral corundum (sapphire and ruby) and then laced with chromium or vanadium to create the color-change effect. Creating synthetic alexandrite is an expensive process, so even lab-grown gemstones can be expensive.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade

The history of the Marquise Cut dates back to the 18th Century. King Louis XV of France paid a jeweller, to create a completely unique shaped diamond that compared to the lips of his mistress. The cut has then been developed and modified, evolving it into the stunning cut known today.

Siffari Jewellery company was founded in 1941.
