This very pretty Vintage ring would make a unique engagement ring, gift, or addition to any fine jewelry collection.

History: The common story of tanzanite's discovery tells of Maasai herders who found blue crystals in the Merelani Hills near Arusha, Tanzania, while tending livestock in 1967. ... An estimated two million carats of tanzanite were mined before the Tanzanian government nationalized the mines in 1971.

Diamond History The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

The modern trillion cut was developed in the mid-1960s by Leon Finker, a New York -based cutter, who trademarked the name "Trillion". Though influenced by earlier 18th-century triangular cuts by the Asscher brothers, Finker's design focused on achieving brilliance comparable to a round cut. The name "Trillion" was Finker's prediction that his cut would be so popular it would make him rich, a name he later fought to maintain as a trademark. However, due to phonetic similarities, the trademark was lost in 1986, and "trillion," "trilliant," and "trielle" became interchangeable terms for a triangular brilliant cut

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The 19th century saw the invention of white gold. At the time, manufacturers alloyed goldwith palladium. It wasn't commercially available until 1912, when it was issued as a patent in Pforzheim, Germany, subsequently gaining popularity as a more affordable alternative to platinum in the mid-1920s.
