History: Agate, a banded chalcedony quartz, has been valued for thousands of years, with its name derived from the Achates River (now Dirillo)in Sicily, where Greek philosopher Theophrastus discovered it circa 350 BCE, Used since the 3rd millennium BC in Mesopotamia for seals and in Egypt for amulets, it was historically prized for protection, health, and decoration.
Silver's history is long. The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. ... The silver does not react to the air, but the base metals such as lead and copper oxidize and separate from the precious metal.
The Edwardian era of the Edwardian period of British history covers the brief reign of King Edward VII, 1901 to 1910, and it extended to the start of the First World War. The death of Queen Victoria in 1901 marked the end of the Victorian era.
