History: The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. Its name, which has been used since these ancient times, was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate (because the small, red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds).
Enameling dates as far back as 13th-century BC. Often made from precious metals with inlays of enamel, its history is traceable through jewelry, accessories, and numerous other works. There is no set destination of the practice's creation as it is documented over thousands of years from all over the world.
Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
A Fabergé egg (Russian: яйцо Фаберже, tr. yaytso Faberzhe) is a jewelled egg created by the jewellery firm House of Fabergé, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. As many as 69 were created, of which 57 survive today. Virtually all were manufactured under the supervision of Peter Carl Fabergé between 1885 and 1917. Even though this egg pendant is not made by Carl Fabergé, it is a lovely example of how his masterpieces influenced jewelers to make precious gold egg jewelry.
