Celadon Sky - Vintage 14K White Gold Green Star Apatite & Diamond Ring. This unique ring is crafted from 14K white gold, hallmarked 14K, and a makers mark. Featuring one natural cabochon gemstone(with a laboratory enhanced six ray star), classic styling, and high quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is expertly claw-set with a beautiful celadon green apatite gemstone, which is beautifully enhanced with a ethereal six ray white star. The gorgeous apatite gem is surrounded by high quality sparkling diamonds, which off-sets the mystical gem perfectly. The shoulders have a slight taper, which lead down to a smooth and polished shank. A plain shank allows for easy sizing, and a comfortable fit. Comments: The star was difficult to capture in the photography, however the apatite gemstone exhibits a beautiful crisp white 6 ray star in different light intensities. Gorgeous and unique ring.

History: Apatite was named in 1788 for the Greek word apatite. Since apatite has a similar appearance to many other minerals. Apatite is not actually a specific mineral, but rather, is a name for a group of similar isomorphous hexagonal phosphate minerals.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

White gold first became commercially available in about 1912 and popular in 1920. Platinum was still the preferred precious metal for jewelry settings. However, many people could not afford authentic platinum jewelry. White gold was introduced as an affordable alternative to platinum.
