Sweet - Vintage 10K Gold Diamond Cut Heart Ring. This lovely ring is crafted from 10K gold, 10K hallmark and makers mark. Featuring Vintage styling and pretty detailing. The gallery of the ring is designed in the form of an open -work heart. The sides also display open-work with diamond cut decoration. Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The first known depiction of a heart-shape as a symbol of love was in the 1250's French manuscript the Roman de la poire, in which a young man holds his vaguely pine cone-shaped heart up towards his lady love. Up until the fourteenth century, the heart was usually depicted upside down.
