Tropical Nights - Vintage Sterling Silver Abalone Marquise Dangle Earrings. These wonderful earrings are crafted from sterling Silver, hallmarked 925 for Sterling. Featuring genuine abalone, Vintage styling and lovely detail. These earrings are created in the form of a marquise shape , featuring beautiful colourful abalone set into a silver setting. The earrings have a polished back, with the original screw backs for pierced and non pierced ears. The Vintage earrings looks gorgeous when worn, truly a perfect accessory to enhance your favourite outfit.

Abalone shell pieces are found in Indian middens along the coast of California, showing that this was a common food item for hundreds of years. Asians harvested abalone in California during the 1800s and early 1900s. Most of this was done intertidally in the late 1800s. and then by diving in the early 1900s.
