Goblet of Wine - Vintage English 9K Gold Garnet Coronet Ring.  This lovely ring is crafted from 9K, hallmarked 375 for 9k gold, a makers mark AWW, London, England, dated 1987.   Featuring a beautiful genuine rich red wine garnet expertly set with gorgeous decorative claws. There is a very attractive ornate design on the shoulders of the ring, leading down to a polished band.  The jewel is an oval faceted cut gem with lots of sparkle, the gallery is so stunning, simulating a gold crown.  The Vintage Victorian Revival ring looks stunning when worn displaying a sense of regality and elegance , truly a perfect gift or wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

History: The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. Its name, which has been used since these ancient times, was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate (because the small, red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds).

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
