Exotic Treasure - Art Deco 900 Silver Simulated Jade Cabochon Floral Bracelet. This gorgeous bracelet is crafted from 900 silver, tested. The bracelet features 5 simulated Jade Cabochons, 4 round simulated jade cabochon gemstones, Art Deco era styling, and quality craftsmanship. This bracelet is comprised of links, which alternate, from sawtooth bezel-set apple green jade, and jade which is expertly set into a flower motif. The links are flexible, which makes for a comfortable fit. The bracelet features its original snap clasp, which allows the bracelet to be taken on and off easily, without having to fiddle with hard-to-use small clasps. The clasp is in perfect working order, and snaps into place securely. The bracelet is solid, and displays a beautiful aged patina. This Art Deco bracelet is in wonderful condition, and beautifully rendered. Truly a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

History: Simulated jade, or imitation jade, has a history spanning thousands of years, primarily driven by scarcity and high value of natural nephrite and jadeite in cultures like china. Historically, these materials were created to resemble the color, texture, and luster of "true" jade, with techniques evolving from ancient colored glass to modern synthetic laboratory creations.

The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.

Jewelry Use: While snap fasteners were used on accessories early on, specific "snap clasps" for jewelry, such as those used for bracelet bands, became more common in the mid-20th century, with patents appearing as late as 1965.
