Art Deco Revival - Vintage Rhodium Plated Crystal Rhinestone Ring (ER276)

Rarities Antique Jewelry

Art Deco Revival - Vintage Rhodium Plated Crystal Rhinestone Ring. This unique ring is  crafted from rhodium plate over metal. Featuring emerald cut and round cut crystal rhinestones, and vintage styling. The gallery on this ring is claw-set with sparkling sapphire blue and clear crystal Rhinestones. The rhinestones are arranged in a linear geometric abstract design, which has an Art Deco feel. The band is fluted and adjustable, which allows the wearer to adjust the ring to their desired size. This vintage ring would make a fun addition to any costume jewelry collection.

History: Centuries ago, quartz pebbles with a high lead content were found sparkling on the banks of Europe's Rhine River. These beautiful, natural stones were highly coveted and were eventually depleted, inspiring jewelers to create an imitation, aptly named the "rhinestone."

Rhodium plating on silverware is not new. The process of using rhodium plating commercially became more common in the early 1930's. Some of the first applications were for cigarette lighters and writing instruments. Notably the Ronson Lighter Company produced many Art Deco Style products in the late 1930's.
