Rarities Antique Jewelry
Downton Girl - Edwardian (Post) 1917 Sterling Silver Paste Buckle Bracelet . This beautiful bracelet is made of sterling silver, and has a sterling hallmark. It also has a hallmark assay of 1917. The design of this gorgeous bracelet is fabulous. It has a modern designer feel to it , however it is over 100 years old. The style is a tennis bracelet with beautiful clear paste gemstones all the way around the bracelet. However the gorgeous buckle in the front gives the bracelet such style. This bracelet is so wonderful in its versatility. It would make a beautiful unique bridal bracelet , or for a special event , or worn casually during the day. Just gorgeous!
Paste jewellery dates back to France during the 18th century when a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras began hand crafting fine-quality Paste jewellery in 1724. He was quickly then appointed as “Jeweller to the King”, and began making Paste jewellery for King Louis XV of France.
