Purple Royale - Estate 24K Gold Plate Over Sterling Silver Natural Amethyst, White Topaz & Seed Pearl Intricate Ring. This pretty ring is crafted from 24K gold over sterling silver, hallmarked 925 SS. The ring features one natural oval cut faceted amethyst gemstone, 2 natural round cut faceted white topaz gems, 2 genuine seed pearls, Victorian Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is expertly claw-set with a beautiful vibrant purple  amethyst, which is adorned by white lustrous pearls and clear white topaz gems in an intricate open-worked setting.  The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit. The colour of the gold has a rich buttery yellow hue, which looks gorgeous against the lavender amethyst. This estate ring would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

History: Ancient Greeks and Romans believed this gemstone could ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus and keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted. English regalia were decorated with amethysts during the Middle Ages to symbolize royalty. Amethyst jewelry has been found and dated as early as 2000 BC.

White Topaz has a rich history, with its earliest uses dates back to thousands of years.. It has been valued in various cultures for its beauty, clarity, and perceived metaphysical properties. Ancient civilizations associated it with protection, strength, and spiritual connection, while today it is appreciated for its ability to clear the mind and enhance intuition.

Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.

Silver was discovered after gold and copper about 4000 bce, when it was used in jewelry and as a medium of exchange. The earliest known workings of significant size were those of the pre-Hittites of Cappadocia in eastern Anatolia.

Sterling silver, a 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper alloy, has a history rooted in 12th century England, initially used for coinage and later becoming popular for jewelry and other ornamental items.

What Is Gold-plated Jewelry? Gold-plated jewelry is a type of metal jewelry covered with a very thin layer of real gold. The process was invented in 1805 by Italian chemist Luigi Brugnatelli who plated a very thin gold layer on top of silver.
