A Rose For You - Estate Rose Gold Plate Crystal Rhinestone Pendant & 14K Rose Gold Fill Chain.  This lovely pendant is crafted from rose gold plate over metal, and the chain is crafted from 14K rose gold fill. The pendant features numerous crystal round cut rhinestones, and a modernistic take on a classic design. This pendant is created in the form of a rose, which showcases lovely open-work, and sparkling crystals. The necklace is matched up to a rose gold coloured belcher style chain, which looks perfect with the pretty rose pendant. The chain features a secure spring ring clasp, in perfect working order. This estate pendant looks wonderful when worn, feminine, and so versatile. 

History: Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine, hence the name, although some were also found in areas like the Alps (the source of the Rhine). Today the name "rhinestone" applies only to varieties of lead glass known as crystal glass.

The history of gold-filled jewellery traces back to early 19th century England, where this technique was patented to create semi-precious and better-quality custom jewellery during the Victorian Era.

As long as gold filled pieces are well cared for, they can last a lifetime. Gold plated pieces, on the other hand, can last up to a year if kept away from water, wear, and heat. It's also worth mentioning that gold filled pieces with lower karat weight (9-14k) may be more durable than pieces with greater gold content. Victorian gold filled jewelry can last for centuries. 

The technology behind gold plated jewelry is credited to Italian chemist Luigi Brugnatelli. In 1805, he discovered the process for electroplating. It was quickly adopted for jewelry styles, with many Victorian jewelry pieces using gold plating.
