History: The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.
Rock crystal has a long history in jewelry and ornamentation, used by Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for talismans , amulets, and decorative objects, and later in the Middle Ages for requires and secular objects. The stone's purity and versatility led to its use in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, often with silver or platinum, and it remains popular in modern jewelry for its beauty and durability.
