Blue Lagoon - Vintage 10K White Gold Blue Zircon Filigree Ring. This exquisite ring is crafted from 10K white gold, hallmarked 10K.  Featuring one natural oval cut faceted blue zircon,  Edwardian/Art Deco styling, and quality craftsmanship.  The expertly double claw-set blue zircon takes centre stage in this ring.  The blue zircon sparkles beautifully and displays a wonderful bluish/green hue.  The gallery is comprised of filigree work, whilst the shoulders are engraved. The shank is a knife edge design(a characteristic seen in Edwardian and Art Deco jewelry). During the Middle Ages, people believed that zircon gemstones could induce sound sleep, ward off evil, and bring prosperity and wisdom. Blue zircon was popular during Victorian times and frequently adorned English estate jewelry from the 1880s. Zircon with a cloudy or smoky appearance was popular in mourning jewelry.

Is blue zircon rare? Yes it is. In fact, it is much rarer than diamonds but is considerably less valuable because there is less demand on the market. Blue is the most valuable variety and among the most sought after.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The history of White Gold dates back to 1710, when it was composed by alchemists Johan Frierich Bottger and Ehrenfried Walther Von Tcshirnhaus in Germany. In 1752, another metal resembling White Gold was introduced, with a grey finish. White Gold as we know today was created in 1920's.
