The shoulders are tapered, which lead down to a smooth and polished shank, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This vintage ring would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.
History: Cubic zirconia was first discovered by German mineralogists in 1937. The gemstone was dismissed for years until it was rediscovered by Soviet-era scientists. It was hoped that the stone could be used as a diamond-like, indestructible substance. There were also theories that it may be used in place of rubies in lasers.
The marquise cut was first created in the 18th century for King Louis XV who commissioned a diamond design to represent the shape of his mistress's lips. This cut was often worn by courtiers as a symbol of rank, adding to its regal name and beginnings.
Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
