Sparkling Cluster - Vintage 14K Gold Plated Cubic Zirconia Ring. This elegant ring is crafted from 14K gold electroplating over metal, hallmarked 14KGE Taiwan. Featuring seven marquise cut cubic zirconia gemstones, 3 round brilliant cut cubic zirconia gemstones, classic vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is created in the form of a flower spray. The expertly claw-set gemstones sparkle beautifully, and look like diamonds. The shoulders are a pretty split design, leading down to a smooth and polished shank, which allows for a comfortable fit. This vintage ring would make a fun addition to any jewelry collection.
History: Cubic zirconia was first discovered by German mineralogists in 1937. The gemstone was dismissed for years until it was rediscovered by Soviet-era scientists. It was hoped that the stone could be used as a diamond-like, indestructible substance. There were also theories that it may be used in place of rubies in lasers.
Electroplating jewelry is a process of applying thin, even layers of metal onto a base metal. The electroplating process deposits high-quality, pure metals onto a sturdy base by passing a direct current through an electrolyte containing the deposited metal.
