On This Day In 1903 - Edwardian 9K Gold Ruby & Natural Pearl Ring.  This wonderful ring is crafted from 9K solid rose gold, hallmarked 375, dated 1903, a makers mark J.R. and a Chester assay.  Featuring 2 natural round cut rubies, 3 natural pearls, Edwardian styling and quality gold-work.  This pretty ring is star-set with two vibrant red rubies, and interspaced with lustrous silvery grey pearls. The largest pearl being the focal point of the precious piece.  The sides of the ring are engraved with exquisite deep scrolls, leading down to a smooth and polished band, which allows for a comfortable fit. This Edwardian era ring would make a unique wedding band, gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.

The Edwardian era of the Edwardian period of British history covers the brief reign of King Edward VII, 1901 to 1910, and it extended to the start of the First World War. The death of Queen Victoria in 1901 marked the end of the Victorian era.

The history of Rubies is a story rich in splendour and mystery. These precious gems have been mentioned in the Bible, worn by royalty throughout human history, and beloved to protect ancient warriors in battle. They have been thought to act as a talisman for peace and a promise of wisdom and health for the holder.
