First Star I See Tonight - Vintage Signed 'SIFFARI' 10K White Gold Linde Star Sapphire Solitaire Ring. This vintage ring is crafted from 10K white gold hallmarked 10K, and signed with a makers name SIFFARI. The ring features one Linde (Lindy) star sapphire (synthetic), vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is scalloped, and expertly claw-set with a beautiful blue star sapphire. It was difficult to capture the star in photographs, however once the sapphire is in different light intensities, a beautiful perfect white star appears. The shoulders are slightly tapered, and features a pretty groove design, which adds more detail and character to the piece. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for easy sizing, and a comfortable fit. This vintage ring would make a perfect gift for that special someone, or addition to any vintage jewelry collection.

History: In 1947, the Linde Air Products Company of New York began producing a form of synthetic gem corundum that was marketed in the gemstone industry as "Linde Star Sapphire." Also called Lindy stars, these laboratory-created gemstones were known for the perfection of their asterism, showing as a 6-pointed star under normal lighting. The Linde stars were sold as round and oval cabochons in various sizes and colors. Production of the Linde stars was discontinued in 1974 due to foreign competition.

3600 BC: Gold is first smelted in ancient Egypt. 2600 BC: Egyptian hieroglyphs describe gold as being “more plentiful than dirt”. The earliest known map dates from this time and shows the plan of a gold mine.

White gold has been around since the turn of the 19th century, but it wasn't until the 1920s when it really started gaining popularity. At the time, platinum had been the preferred precious metal for jewellery. But it quickly became scarce as World War II raged on, and countries began to stockpile it for military use.

Siffari Jewellery company was founded in 1941 in Toronto, Canada.
