Rarities Antique Jewelry

19th Century Beauties - Victorian 14K Gold Natural Pearl Foliage & Fleur De Lis Tassel Dangly Earrings.  These exquisite earrings are crafted from 14K gold, tested. The earrings feature two natural pearls, Victorian era styling, and quality craftsmanship.  The gallery on these earrings showcase beautiful white natural pearls, displaying a silvery grey overtone. The surmounts are fleur de lis, and feature locking wires for pierced ears. The gallery also displays beautiful foliage decoration, and dangling tassels. This type of articulation gives the earrings movement, which in-turn allows the earrings to sparkle in the light. These Victorian era beauties have a beautiful aged patina, and are so versatile because of their size and design. Therefore they can be worn day or night, and with anything, and everything.

Note: Contemporary appraisals do not reflect the antique value or rarity of antique jewelry.  It is highly recommended that these earrings be insured for $2000.00 (Tax Excluded)

History:Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

In the history of the United Kingdom and the British Empire, the Victorian era was the reign of Queen Victoria, from 20 June 1837 until her death on 22 January 1901. Slightly different definitions are sometimes used.
