A Touch Of Blue - Vintage 14K Gold Blue Topaz Stud Earrings.  These pretty earrings are crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked on the back of the earrings and the butterfly backs. Featuring two natural tear-drop shaped faceted blue topaz, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. These vintage earrings are quite lovely, showcasing  a ribbon of gold, which frames expertly claw-set sky blue, blue topaz, gemstones. The blue topaz gems shine beautiful and look gorgeous against the yellow gold. These earrings are for pierced ears, and feature posts and secure butterfly backs. They are versatile, therefore they can be worn with anything and everything!

History: It is believed that the stone was first discovered on the Island of Topazios in Egypt's Red Sea. Topaz is also mentioned in the Old Testament of the bible which indicates that it has been regarded as a precious stone for ages. Before the 1970s, Blue Topaz was rare and very costly.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
