All In Red - Vintage Sterling Silver Genuine Carved Cinnabar Floral Marquise Ring. This ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925, and a makers mark SAJEN, The ring features one genuine carved cinnabar gem, Art Deco Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. The cinnabar has lovely floral carving on the face of the ring, which exhibits a beautiful deep red colour. The gem is bezel set in an elegant marquise shaped setting. One of the shoulders exhibits a lovely raised detail, whilst the other shoulder is simple and polished. The design is artistic, and unique, which gives the piece character and an antique feel. This vintage ring would truly make a unique gift or wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

Note: The word Cinnabar most likely comes from ancient Greek kinnabari, later romanticized to cinnabaris. Cinnabar, the most common ore of oxidized mercury found in nature, occurs in granular crusts or veins associated with volcanic activity and hot springs.

Silver's history is long. The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.

The term "sterling silver" probably originated in eastern Germany when five towns formed the Hanseatic League in the 1100s. These town minted their own coins of 92.5 percent silver. When Britain sold cattle and grain to the League, they were paid in "Easterling coins".

Sajen jewelry is primarily made in Bali, Indonesia, and Jaipur, India. The jewelry is designed by Marianna and Richard Jacobs, who collaborate with master jewelers in these locations. They also have a presence in Putney, Vermont, where they may handle some aspects of design and production

Sajen jewelry is known for its combination of fine art, healing properties of stones, and the traditions of indigenous cultures. Marianna Jacobs' knowledge of stones and ancient healing traditions, particularly from Bali and India, informs her designs.

In the mid-1980s, American jewelers Richard and Marianne Jacobs, inspired by Indonesian and Balinese ethnic ornaments, created their own Sajen line of jewelry. Translated from Indonesian, “Sajen” means “offer”.
