Allure - Vintage 10K White Gold Amethyst & Diamond Heart Cluster Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 10K white gold, hallmarked 10K. Featuring a natural heart shaped faceted amethyst, 18 natural single cut diamonds, classic styling and quality gold-work.  The expertly claw set amethyst has the most beautiful rich purple colour with a slight bluish hue, surrounded by a halo of bright, white sparkling diamonds.  The band has a slight taper, leading down to a polished smooth shank.  The charming vintage ring looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.

History: According to Greek mythology, Amethyst was a young virgin who became the object of wrath of the Greek God Dionysus after he became intoxicated with red wine. ... The goblet overturned, and the red wine spilled all over the white rock, saturating it until it became the purple quartz that is now known as Amethyst.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold has been known since prehistoric times and was one of the first metals to be worked, mainly because it was to be found as nuggets or as particles in the beds of streams. Such was the demand that by 2000 BC the Egyptians began mining gold.

Although the origin of white color gold dates back to 1710, where it was discovered by two alchemists in Germany, it wasn't used widely until much later. White gold as we know it today was really popularised in the 1920s. Although it might seem strange, this luxury material came to popularity in wartime.
