Featuring a round coin medallion of Alexander the great, wonderful open -work, and quality workmanship. This fabulous ring is expertly bezel set with a central white gold medallion, surrounded by a beautiful fine rope design. The shoulders of the ring are enhanced by attractive Ancient Greek type decorative open-work. The shank is smooth and polished , which allows for a comfortable fit. History: Alexander III of Macedon, commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. A member of the Argead dynasty, he was born in Pella—a city in Ancient Greece—in 356 BC. and died June 323 BC. in Babylon.

This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
