Ulga - Ancient Viking 8th -11th Century Bronze Owl Foot Amulet Pendant. This amazing pendant is crafted from bronze. Featuring an ancient Viking design,  wonderful detail and quality bronze work. The pendant displays an intriguing owl foot design with wonderful detail and an aged patina. The bronze bale's are contemporary,  which holds the dangling foot beautifully. The amulet has been matched up to a contemporary black leather adjustable cord, with a secure lobster claw clasp. The softness of the cord protects the bale as it moves back and forth, when worn.  This pendant would make a perfect unique gift or wonderful addition to any early collection.

Note: In Old Norse, an Owl was known as "Ulga" and in Old German , it was "uwila". In Old English (about 600 A.D. top 1000 A.D.) Owl was "ule", a word similar to the original Dutch word. In middle English (about 1000 A.D. to the 1400s) , the word became "owle", later shortened to the form we use today.

The owl has a dual symbolism of wisdom and darkness, the latter meaning evil and death. They are symbolically associated with clairvoyance, astral projection and magic, and is oftentimes the medicine of sorcerers and witches, you are drawn to magical practices.
