This unique necklace is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked STERLING+14K.  Featuring 5 genuine triangular shaped cabochon gemstones, Art Deco styling, and quality craftsmanship. This exquisite necklace is comprised of engraved floral scrolled panels, and beautiful dangles of carnelian, blue chalcedony, chrysoprase, onyx, and pink chalcedony. The variation of colours in this necklace are so beautiful, and gives the necklace character and interest. These natural gemstones were carefully chosen to create a rainbow effect, dangling freely from the floral scrolled chain with pendulum movement and sway along the neck. The necklace is sterling with a 14K gold overlay.  The chain is a sturdy box design, with a secure spring ring clasp, in perfect working order. The necklace has an extender so it can be worn at your desired length. This amazing Art Deco necklace looks stunning when worn, a true beauty to be cherished for many years to come.

HISTORY. Chalcedony was a treasured gemstone of the ancient world. No important Roman was without a seal, amulet or signet ring carved from this fine, durable material. The Victorians, too, chose chalcedony for carved cameos and intaglios; its fine texture allows for intricate craftsmanship.

Chalcedony can be found in weathering volcanic rocks, but also in sedimentary ones, often together with agate. In igneous or metamorphic rocks chalcedony is very rare and only forms veins in cracks that have been percolated by warm rising silica-rich brines.

Chrysoprase is considered to be the rarest and most valuable stone in the chalcedony quartz group. That's quite a distinction considering that the chalcedony species includes agate, chalcedony, onyx, carnelian, bloodstone and jasper. However, chrysoprase is the least known of all the chalcedony varieties. This particular example exhibits a green chrysoprase.
